Protecting the services you receive for the future and improving the quality of your healthcare are the two most important reasons behind our ambition to change services. But we can’t ignore the financial and economic pressures the NHS faces. This pressure will only increase as our population continues to grow and we live longer.
The Government has promised to protect the health budget in real terms, but as demand grows budgets will be put under greater pressure and doing more of the same will not be possible.
In England, the NHS has been set a challenge to improve its efficiency by up to 20 per cent by 2014/15. We think our plans for health services in the South East Midlands to work more collaboratively will not only lead to improvements in the quality of services, but help us to make the most of your money too.
